Laura Parkin-Brown
My Occupational Therapy journey began in 2016, after graduating with a BSc from Oxford Brookes University. Following graduation, I moved to South Africa to work for a Charitable foundation healthcare and education team supporting orphan and vulnerable children. I thoroughly enjoyed this rewarding role being part of the children's journey and being able to support them in achieving meaningful activities and opportunities. To further explore the world of OT, I accepted a position in Dubai, to develop my understanding of how to support young adults in accessing learning opportunities, and enable them to find independence in everyday activities.
After a year in Dubai, I moved back to England to continue my career, starting with a post in the NHS. This provided me the opportunity to work within the community at Clinics, Schools and Home environments with children from 0-18 years old. My skill set has been further developed with my interest in Sensory Integration and I am currently studying to achieve a Post Graduate Certificate.
I have been working as part of ABC-OT since 2018. I am passionate about working with children, with a variety of difficulties and challenges, either supporting them at School, Home or Clinic. It is incredibly rewarding to work as part of a team in supporting Parents and Teaching Staff to help a child reach their potential in a way that benefits them as an individual.
